CAEP Corner: Component 1.2

CAEP Corner is a regular feature that familiarizes faculty with the standards from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation. Today, we focus on Component 1.2.

Component 1.2 requires providers ensure candidates use research and evidence to develop an understanding of the teaching profession. Furthermore, they should use both to measure their P-12 students’ progress and their own professional practice. At this time, we are waiting for a decision about whether or not edTPA data can be a part of the evidence that satisfies this requirement.

The UGA College of Education will submit its accreditation report in fall 2019. Prior to that, we will collect data across the programs as evidence that we are meeting the standards. There are five standards and 23 components. For more information, visit our Educator Preparation Resources webpage.
