Call for nominations: Outstanding Academic Advisor awards
Nominations are now being accepted for the UGA Outstanding Academic Advisor awards. These awards were developed 14 years ago by the Office of the Vice President for Instruction to encourage, acknowledge, and reward excellence in professional academic advising.
Please note there are slight changes to the award and procedure this year.
- One award is given to an experienced professional advisor and one award is given to an outstanding new advisor.
- The new advisor award nominations should be reserved for advisors in their first three years of delivering academic services to students.
- Each winner will receive $600 and an award at the summer celebration lunch for advisors hosted by the provost.
Nomination rules:
- Nominations are only accepted from the offices of deans and the director of the Honors Program. Please limit the number of nominees from your school/college/unit to three per category.
- All University of Georgia locations where undergraduate students are enrolled and advised are eligible.
- Each college should develop a way to contact the students of the nominee(s) to solicit their recommendations. Please note that the intent is for this awards program to be driven by students.
- Previous winners of the award are not eligible for nomination again for five years after their first award.
All award nomination materials should be submitted to Christy Glazer in the Office of Faculty and Staff Services by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 14, in order to ensure time for college review and submission to the university level.
