Experience a makerspace 'treasure island'

Kelsey Brown, a junior communication sciences and disorders major, is hosting an “introduction to makerspace” as part of a play she is producing later this semester. Kelsey is one of the winners of this year’s Sustainability Grants, and she has written and is producing a play for both kids and adults that delves into the idea of recycling, creativity and inventions.

As part of the preparations for the play, she is hosting an event 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18 to allow students and faculty to play around with the idea of a makerspace. There will be stations set up and everyone will be encouraged to explore and create with the items on hand. Cast and crew will be “inventing” from 5:30-6:30 p.m., and from 6:30-8:30 p.m. students and faculty will be able to play with the makerspace stations.

The event takes place in Room 303 of the Fine Arts Building.
