From the Dean: Diversity, equity, and inclusion focus group

As you know, the J. W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development, part of Public Service and Outreach at UGA, is partnering with us to design and implement a process to assess, test, and gather feedback on a series of proposed initiatives to facilitate increased diversity and inclusiveness in the College.

Raye Rawls, Louise Hill, and Lori Tiller, faculty at Fanning, will be leading a focus group session from noon-2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 29. This session encourages participation from diverse groups of faculty, administrators, staff, students, and others who are interested in providing feedback to help frame their approach to this very important initiative. The intention of this focus group is to synthesize the information gathered from the report on different models of diversity structures and the information gathered from the dialogue sessions held in January.

During the focus group session you will be given a chance to discuss definitions on diversity and inclusion, review the proposed models form the diversity report, and discuss questions, concerns, or ideas on how to implement this process for the future. The session is scheduled to last two hours and is open to staff, students, and faculty.

The focus group session will be held in Aderhold Hall Room G23. We would like to keep the number in the group to 20, so please respond to

Carolyn McNearney

by today, Wednesday, Feb. 24, indicating if you would like to attend. Following this session will be a chance for a town hall-style meeting that will allow for any and all interested stakeholders to attend.
