College of Education faculty members recognized during 2016 Honors Week
Every year, the University of Georgia celebrates the successes of its students, faculty, staff, and alumni in a series of events during Honors Week. This year, five faculty members in the College of Education were recognized for their accomplishments in both the classroom and in the local community.
The honors range from teaching and public service awards-such as the 2016 Creative Teaching Award, which recognizes creative teaching strategies used by faculty to improve student learning-to the Josiah Meigs Teaching Professorship, the university’s highest recognition for instruction at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
UGA has honored the following faculty members in the College:
- Stephanie Jones, professor in the Department of Educational Theory and Practice, for the prestigious Josiah Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professorship
- Ilse Mason, senior lecturer and basic PE program coordinator in the Department of Kinesiology, for the 2016 Creative Teaching Award
- Annelise A. Singh, associate professor in the Department of Counseling and Human Development Services, for the 2016 First-Year Odyssey Teaching Award
- Gretchen Thomas, instructor in the Department of Career and Information Studies, for 2016 Service-Learning Teaching Excellence Awards
- Phillip Tomporowski, professor in the Department of Kinesiology, for the 2016 Engaged Scholar Award
