Bridge maintenance affects River's Crossing phone service

A project to replace the bridges on College Station Road in East Athens is expected to affect network and phone services to University of Georgia buildings in that area.

The maintenance will occur in four parts over four days, beginning Thursday and continuing through Sunday (Oct. 27-30). The first two parts of the maintenance will focus on telephone infrastructure and will be performed in two maintenance windows. The first took place overnight Thursday to Friday and the second maintenance window starts at 5 p.m. today, Oct. 28, through 7 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29.

During these times, telephone services will be unavailable in the following buildings:

  • Soil Test Lab
  • Agriculture and Environmental Services Lab
  • Plant Pathology Nematode Lab
  • Veterinary Medicine Learning Center
  • Nichols Building
  • Poultry Diagnostic Research Campus
  • River’s Crossing buildings
  • CAGTECH
  • Horticulture Head House and Green houses
  • Agronomy Head House
  • Agronomy Seed lab
  • Entomology Head House
  • Tomato Greenhouse
  • Rhizotron Building
  • Botany Greenhouses

  • Complex Carbohydrate Research Center
  • Campus Transit
  • University Golf course buildings
  • Central Food Stores
  • Environmental Safety Building
  • Riverbend Research Lab South
  • Riverbend Research Lab North

Telephone services during business hours should not be affected. In case of an emergency during this maintenance, it is important to use a cell phone to contact police from campus by calling 911. Members of the campus community are reminded that 911 is always the appropriate number to call for an emergency on campus, and that in the event of a future interruption in “land line” phone service at UGA, cell phones should be used to contact police.

The second half of the maintenance will be completed Oct. 29-31 and will focus on network infrastructure. During this part of the maintenance, internet connectivity, including wireless, will be unavailable from 7 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, to 7 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 31, in the following buildings:

  • Soil Test Lab
  • Agriculture and Environmental Services Lab
  • Plant Pathology Nematode Lab
