This Friday's research colloquium explores human performance variability

Phillip L. Ackerman, professor of psychology at the Georgia Institute of Technology, will speak about human performance variability at the next installment of the Research Colloquium Series. The talk takes place 12:30-1:30 p.m. this Friday, Oct. 14, in Aderhold Hall Room G5.

Variability in performance represents a relatively untapped area of inquiry with both theoretical implications and real-world consequences. In this presentation, Ackerman will review the scope of intra-individual variability in performance, sources of variability in performance, and inter-individual differences in intra-individual variability, with a variety of examples, including cognitive fatigue and stress research. He will also discuss research strategies to help in our understanding of when, and by how much, individuals vary in performance.
