ArchPass Duo required to access UGA's VPN beginning in January

Beginning Jan. 3, you will need both your MyID and a device enrolled in ArchPass Duo, UGA’s two-factor authentication system, to access the “01 Default” VPN group. You must enroll in ArchPass Duo to continue using the VPN. Without an enrolled ArchPass Duo device, you will be unable to log in to any VPN group after Jan. 3.

Requiring ArchPass Duo for access to the Remote Access VPN is a security measure designed to prevent fraudulent log-ins. To enroll a mobile phone, landline, or tablet in ArchPass Duo, use the ArchPass Duo Self-Service Portal on the EITS website at archpass.uga.edu/enroll. You cannot enroll a laptop or desktop computer in ArchPass Duo.

You do not need an ArchPass access request form to use ArchPass Duo to log into the 01 Default VPN. This form is only for users who need access to sensitive or restricted data. You can find more information on two-factor authentication as well as complete instructions for enrolling and using ArchPass Duo at archpass.uga.edu.

Beginning Jan. 3, you will be able to use your MyID, MyID password, and a selected ArchPass Duo authentication method to log in to the 01 Default VPN from any computer or device. If you are traveling and do not have access to Wi-Fi or cellular coverage, you can generate passcodes for authentication through the Duo Mobile App on your smartphone. Alternatively, you can have a bank of 10 passcodes sent to you through SMS text before you leave. You will only need to use ArchPass Duo when logging into the Remote Access VPN. You will still be able to access other resources, such as email and the campus wireless networks, without ArchPass Duo.
