From the Dean: Announcing the new College of Education Strategic Plan

Our new College of Education Strategic Plan 2017-2021 has been completed. After more than a year in development under the stewardship of a committee chaired by Laura Bierema, the plan is now complete. I want to thank Laura, the committee members, and the many faculty and staff who offered input during this extensive effort to update the College’s previous strategic plan. The plan outlines four strategic goals with several objectives embedded within each goal. Our strategic goals include the following:

  1. Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion for all people
  2. Increase high-impact research and extramural funding
  3. Recognize, improve, and expand the quality of instruction through research-based, innovative approaches to teaching and learning
  4. Improve the lives of people in Georgia and beyond

Our goal is for the strategic plan to be discussed and implemented by faculty and staff in each of our departments and to align departmental efforts to help further our goals. The strategic plan reflects the College’s existing values and helps provide a common framework for focusing our efforts over the next five years.

Best regards,

Craig H. Kennedy, PhD
Dean and Professor
