Buxton named to National Academies of Sciences study panel

UGA Athletic Association Professor of Education Cory Buxton has been named to a National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine study panel that will write a consensus study on the topic of supporting English learners in STEM subjects.

The committee will examine research on supporting English learners in preK through 12th grades in learning, teaching, and assessment in STEM subjects, including the role of language in learning STEM, successful programs or interventions both within the United States and abroad, and the learning needs of both pre-service and in-service STEM teachers with respect to English learners.

The National Academies creates expert study panels on topics perceived to be of timely national interest, and uses the panel reports to provide scientifically-based evidence to inform all agencies of the federal government.
