Harman to engage teachers in Beijing
Ruth Harman, associate professor in the Department of Language and Literacy Education, has been invited to develop and give a series of workshops to teachers in Beijing this summer. She will engage the teachers in experiential activities and reflective discussion about how to incorporate drama into elementary school classrooms.
Over the past decade, Harman’s research, teaching, and service have focused on exploring how best to support the literacy and language development of emergent bilingual learners in K-12 classrooms, especially in the current climate of high stakes school reform and anti-immigration discourses.
