  • Thursday, June 8
  • 1-4 p.m.
  • Aderhold Hall Room G23
  • Presenters: Emma Blackwell, Rebekah Ingram, Brean’a Parker, and Anneliese Singh

In this three-hour training, you will learn foundational knowledge related to trans-affirming terminology and best practices in working with trans and non-binary students, clients, and colleagues in education and the helping professions.

There are two modules in this workshop:

  • In the first module, you will explore the history of trans communities and how to use trans-affirming language.
  • In the second module, you will identify ways to use this information in order to create trans-affirming environments in your personal and professional life.

Handouts and other trans-affirming resource materials will be provided to assist with further learning and understanding of the everyday needs and challenges trans people experience. An emphasis on trans resilience, gender liberation, and cisgender privilege is woven throughout the workshop.

If you would like to attend this training, please contact Anneliese Singh, associate dean for diversity, equity, and inclusion, or
