Forum: Creating Welcoming Schools for Immigrant Families

The Athens Immigrant Rights Coalition K-12 Schools Committee is hosting a forum, “Creating Welcoming Schools for Immigrant Families.” This event will bring together professionals across fields to inform participants on the following topics:

  • The rights of immigrant students and their families
  • How to respond to student and family concerns
  • Curriculum and practices to celebrate, support, and engage our most vulnerable immigrant student populations

The forum will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Athens-Clarke County Public Library (2025 Baxter St.). This collaborative event, organized by local educators, is sponsored by the Athens Immigrant Rights Coalition and Georgia Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages.

Admission is free and lunch will be provided, but participants are requested to pre-register online. Registration closes on Friday, Aug. 25.
