Be sure to register for the State of Education in Georgia Conference

Registration is now open for the 10th annual State of Education in Georgia Conference!

When: 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at the UGA Hotel and Conference Center

This one-day conference will include a keynote, breakout sessions, and discussions on Georgia’s state plan for the Every Student Succeeds Act, including:

  • Refining Georgia’s accountability platform to reflect school performance
  • Aligning assessments, innovation, and improvement
  • Strengthening the teaching profession
  • Empowering and supporting school leaders
  • Developing a personalized education in PreK-12 schools through school climate and social/emotional learning
  • Integrating federal resources into state innovations
  • Breakout sessions will be led by the team leads for Georgia’s ESSA implementation plan.

Keynote speaker
Chris Minnich, executive director of the Council of Chief State School Officers, will be this year’s conference keynote speaker. With an extensive background in improving assessment and accountability systems, he leads the council’s work with states to raise the bar on standards, assessments, and accountability. His leadership is focused on ensuring all students in our public education system-regardless of background-graduate prepared for college, careers, and life. His talk will center on implications and directions for state implementation of the Every Student Succeeds Act.
