The College of Education Mentoring Program for Graduate Students of Color is launching this fall! Please share this information with students who may be interested.
Program description:
This mentoring program for graduate students of color is a collaboration between the College of Education Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the Office of Research and Graduate Education. In this program, students will:
- Access information, resources, and helpful/impactful mentoring relationships
- Develop important skills related to research and leadership
- Learn academic and research strategies of success and resilience from faculty of color and other research mentors
- Experience affinity, affirmation, and fellowship with other student of color graduate students
Program requirements:
- Attendance of three meetings in fall 2017 and spring 2018 semesters, one of which is a day-long training, and engagement in activities related to academic and professional goal-setting
- Commitment to exploring intersectional issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion within programs
- Commitment to being intentional and engaged within the mentoring program
- Completion of formative and summative mentoring program evaluation requests
How to apply:
Complete the Qualtrics form by 5 p.m. Sept. 15. Questions include topics such as:
- Personal and professional interest in mentoring program
- Research experience, skills, and interests (include any grant activities)
- Experience of past mentorship and leadership
- Personal qualities, strengths, and needs you would like to bring or address in the mentoring experience
- Program, department, semester and year of admission, semester and year of anticipated graduation
