From the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: LGBTQ+ Safe Space training takes place Nov. 10

In collaboration with the College of Education Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the Safe Space program at UGA is coming to the College of Education on Friday, Nov. 10!

The Safe Space program is a three-and-a-half-hour training session for faculty, staff, and students who are interested in learning about gender and sexual identity, homophobia, heterosexism, and how they can provide support and work toward being an ally for the LGBT community. Upon completion of the training, participants may be issued a Safe Space sticker for their office space as a visible indicator to visitors that they are queer and trans affirming.

You can choose one of the two sessions. There are 18 spaces available in each session. Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to sign up:

  • 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
  • 1-4:30 p.m.

Sessions are facilitated by the director of the LGBT Resource Center Meg Evans; senior coordinator of the LGBT Resource Center J. Rashad Small; and College of Education associate dean for diversity, equity, and inclusion Anneliese Singh. The Safe Space program will take place in Aderhold Hall Room 319.
