New grant: $1.1M program will help train students in early intervention, special education
Rebecca Lieberman-Betz, Cindy Vail, and Jenny Brown of the Department of Communication Sciences and Special Education were recently awarded a 5-year, $1.1 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs.
The PIPs Project: Serving Infants, Toddlers, and Preschoolers with High-Intensity Needs Through Evidence-Based Preparation of Interdisciplinary Providers will train graduate level speech-language pathologists and early childhood special educators to become interdisciplinary and collaborative service providers for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers with disabilities and their families.
Scholars will engage in coursework and applied experiences with project faculty with expertise in early intervention and early childhood special education, communication disorders, assistive technology and augmentative and alternative communication, physical therapy, and occupational therapy.
