Stop the Bleed is a nationwide campaign to empower individuals to act quickly and save lives. No matter how rapid the arrival of professional emergency responders, bystanders will always be first on the scene. A person who is bleeding can die from blood loss within five minutes, therefore it is important to quickly stop the blood loss. Each AED cabinet on campus contains a bleeding control kit, so it is important to have volunteers in each building who know how to use the bleeding control equipment contained in each kit. The interactive bleeding control class will teach attendees ways to control life-threatening bleeding including the use of a tourniquet and packing a wound.
