Mary Frances Early featured for her civil and human rights work

Dr. Mary Frances Early was interviewed by Fox 5 to discuss her work in human and civil rights and her participation in Georgia’s educational system.

On Jan. 22, the University of Georgia celebrated its 233rd anniversary as the birthplace of public higher education in America. During the Founder’s Day Luncheon, Mary Frances Early, UGA’s first African-American graduate student to graduate from the university, was awarded the President’s Medal by President Jere Morehead to honor her accomplishments and impact on UGA’s campus and in classrooms around Georgia.

Early was in the presence of family, friends, faculty, and students from various schools at UGA as she accepted one of the highest levels of honor for her work in the educational field.
