Selection process and campus invite for next UGA Chief of Police
Following Jimmy Williamson’s December 5, 2017 announcement to retire as Chief of Police on June 30, 2018, the University of Georgia has been conducting a national search to identify its next Chief of Police. A search committee, chaired by Michael Raeber, general counsel for the University, was formed and charged on December 21, 2017 to oversee the search process and to identify a group of exceptional candidates to present as finalists to the University community and our hiring authority, Vice President Ryan Nesbit. The committee was assisted by the UGA Search Group and Spelman Johnson, a premier external executive search firm exclusively committed to serving higher education.
Vice President Nesbit and the search committee now would like to invite you to the candidate presentations during the on-campus, two-day interviews that will take place over the coming weeks. Each candidate’s name and application materials will be shared two business days before their interviews. While all three finalists accepted the invitation to come to campus for these interviews, one of the finalists who was external to the University, accepted another position and withdrew his candidacy.
No RSVPs are required for the presentations, which are scheduled as follows:
