Science education research team receives international recognition

The research team led by Georgia Hodges, an assistant research scientist in the Department of Mathematics and Science Education, received international attention this week as their serious educational game, Virtual Vet, was awarded the bronze medal by the International Serious Play Award Program.

The game is designed for elementary learners to engage with literacy, math, and science practice in a virtual world where students play the role of a veterinarian while learning about the human body and nutritional literacies. The team is currently testing the game with partner teachers across the U.S.
