Updates to UGA's continued affiliation with CAEP

The College of Education serves as the Educational Program Provider for the university’s affiliation with the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).

The college’s next continuous improvement site visit was scheduled for Spring of 2020. Based on the timelines for meeting elements of the revised standards, delay in the approval of a state agreement between the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) and CAEP, and concerns about the stability of support from CAEP during the review process, the college decided to voluntarily withdraw from CAEP on May 25.

The Georgia Professional Standards Commission uses CAEP standards as its standards for program approval. Educator and other school personnel programs that are approved by the GaPSC will continue to engage in the re-approval process in spring 2020 to ensure our programs are approved for offering by the GaPSC.

Questions about this decision can be addressed to Associate Dean Stacey Neuharth-Pritchett.
