Session addresses emergency preparedness, students' social-emotional needs

The Office of Academic Programs has scheduled a session called Emergency Preparedness and Attention to Students’ Social-Emotional Needs.

Steve Harris, director of UGA’s Office of Emergency Preparedness, will provide training in emergency preparedness with a focus on active shooters. This will be followed by a panel discussion focusing on the social-emotional needs of K-12 students and students’ responses to emergency events in the news.

The panel will include Steve Harris; Philip Brown, principal of North Oconee High School; Anneliese Singh, associate dean for diversity, equity, and inclusion; Christy Conley, counselor at North Oconee High School; and Demond Means, superintendent of the Clarke County School District. The session is open to faculty, staff, teaching assistants, and teacher candidates.
