Call for poster presentations at UGA's first-ever Interdisciplinary Opioid Epidemic Symposium
This fall, several schools and colleges will host a campus-wide, interdisciplinary symposium that seeks to bring the research and scholarship of University of Georgia faculty and graduate students to bear on an epidemic that, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, resulted in nearly 50,000 deaths nationwide last year.
We invite faculty and graduate students from units across campus to share their research and expertise by submitting brief (300-word) abstracts for a poster presentation. The authors of selected abstracts will be invited to give a presentation of their work at a conference Oct. 20 at the Miller Learning Center. We welcome submissions that could eventually become scholarly articles, policy briefs, and white papers intended for policymakers at the state and federal level, healthcare providers, and other key stakeholders.
The deadline for submitting poster abstracts is Sept. 10.
Authors will be notified by Sept. 17 if their abstract is accepted for a poster presentation. Please email submissions to
