Register for the fall 2018 ITT Academy by Sept. 19!

The deadline is Sept. 19 to register for the Fall 2018 Innovation in Teaching and Technology (ITT) Academies. We are accepting faculty and graduate teaching assistants. This semester, we will provide one academy track called “Instructional Challenges Roundtable,” and for the first time, a workshop series open to both students and faculty titled “An Introduction to Using Google Classroom.”

The purpose of ITT is to provide support and enhance teaching through innovative instructional strategies and technology.

About the academies

Track 1: Instructional Challenge Roundtable

Whether you are teaching online or face-to-face, this track is designed to address the myriad instructional challenges we all face when teaching in higher education. Find solace and support while sharing your instructional challenges among your peers. This track is an excellent choice if you are looking to solve problems, be collegial, and interact with your peers around topics of teaching and instruction. Hosted by Gretchen Thomas and Nic Holt.

These sessions take place 10 a.m.–1 p.m. in Aderhold Hall Room 206 on the following Fridays:

  • Sept. 21
  • Sept 28
  • Oct. 12
  • Nov. 2

Track 2: Getting Started in Google Classroom

This two-and-a-half-hour session is designed to support pre-service teachers and instructors in their use of Google Classroom. We will include a brief overview of how Google Suite integrates with Google Classroom, setting up your online classroom, sending and grading assignments, providing student feedback, and tips for running an efficient online classroom. Registrants should have a basic understanding of Google Tools, such as Google Docs and Google Sheets, and only need to attend one session. (Note: No stipend is available for this academy track.)

Dates:

  • 1:30-4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, Aderhold Hall Room 409
  • 2-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, Aderhold Hall Room 317
  • 9-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, Aderhold Hall Room 409

The Instructional Challenge Roundtable academy track is limited to 20 participants with priority to faculty and programmatic diversity. Faculty budgeted for at least 50 percent instruction will also receive a stipend of $500 (to be used for travel, materials, etc.). Participants who successfully complete the ITT Academy will be expected to attend and present at the October 2019 College of Education Innovation in Teaching Conference.
