Dawg Talks: Conversations that Matter on the Charter for Compassion

Grounded in Karen Armstrong’s Twelve Steps for a Compassionate Life, this Dawg Talk will focus on religion as a gateway to compassion and also explore the ways in which compassion serves as the seed of religion. In this discussion, we will look for opportunities for personal growth and, more importantly, connections across cultures, to better serve us in our transition from “tolerance” towards a culture of “respect.”

Dawg Talks is a collaboration between the College of Education’s Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the Office of Student Services. Dawg Talks seeks to engage students, faculty, and staff in a variety of topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. By encouraging courageous conversations, we hope to attract populations from all walks of life and offer a unique lens and a fresh perspective on those around us. With past topics on religion and spirituality, mental health and disability, race and class, and gender and masculinity, we have opened the doors for conversations that matter. Students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members are welcome to attend.
