Rosenwald Schools in the Jim Crow South

Please join the Libraries from 1-5 p.m. this Saturday, Feb, 23, in the Richard B. Russell Building Special Collections Libraries auditorium for Rosenwald Schools in the Jim Crow South: Beacons of Opportunity, Foundations for Hope.

This program will examine the history of Rosenwald Fund Schools and their role in the African-American community along with local initiatives to preserve surviving structures. Mary Hoffschwelle, professor of history at Middle Tennessee State University, will deliver the keynote. The keynote will be followed by speakers Joyce Perdue-Smith and Walter Allen, Jr., who will address Rosenwald Schools in Georgia.
