Faculty development opportunity: AAC&U 2019 VALUE Institute Calibration Training
The UGA Office of Assessment would like to make faculty aware of this opportunity to participate as certified scorers in the VALUE Institute, a collaborative initiative between the Indiana University Center for Postsecondary Research and the AAC&U to promote learning outcomes assessment across campus. AAC&U is seeking volunteers to participate in the 2019 VALUE Institute Calibration Training. This represents a wonderful faculty development opportunity, as individuals who complete the training and meet our calibration standards will be “certified” as VALUE Institute Scorers, and may be invited to score student work over the summer.
The number of certified scorers hired for each VALUE rubric depends on the number of student artifacts submitted and the number of scorers available. Every certified scorer who completes scoring for the VALUE Institute will receive a stipend for their work. Participants can be trained in 2019 on one of the following VALUE rubrics:
- Critical thinking
- Quantitative literacy
- Written communication
Training begins April 15 and ends June 7. Training materials will be housed in a learning management system and the process is completely asynchronous. This year, training is free and there is no limit to the number of participants from any one campus. To learn more, please visit AAC&U’s website to review the Frequently Asked Questions.
