IARGS' annual Spring Local Speaker Series: Roberta Price Gardner

The Other Side: Place, Positioning & Working for Justice Within and Outside of University Spaces

  • Date: Friday, April 19
  • Time: 10:30-11:30 a.m.
  • Location: Aderhold Hall Room 223

Price Gardner, assistant professor of reading and literacy education at Kennesaw State University, will be discussing time, place, processes, and silences related to shaping an academic life while “becoming” a justice-oriented scholar/researcher/teacher educator inside and outside of university spaces. Her discussion will be punctuated with elements that note the importance of crafting an ethic of care within teaching, research, and service to resist forms of racial/queer/gendered capitalism. Afterward, join us for refreshments and spend some time browsing and selecting books for your personal, classroom, and/or research libraries! A variety of children’s and young adult literature will be available.

Books are courtesy of the Georgia Children’s Book Awards.
