Kudos: Means delivers keynote at Dalton Institute

Darris Means, an assistant professor in the Department of Counseling and Human Development Services, delivered a keynote last month based on his research in higher education and access.

The speech, “‘Quaring’ the Soul of Higher Education,” looked at how higher education could be more inclusive of black lesbian, gay, bisexual, and queer students as faculty, practitioners, and administrators in higher education seek ways to improve teaching, learning, and outcomes.

Means spoke last month at the Jon C. Dalton Institute on College Student Values, an annual conference for student affairs professionals, educators, students, and others, at Florida State University. The event is known for its interactive sessions and “think tank”-style approach for individuals who want to promote the civic education and ethical development of college students.
