Candlelight memorial service planned for students, faculty, and staff

Four students from the College of Education will be among the 24 University of Georgia students, faculty, and staff members who died since last April to be honored at the university’s annual candlelight memorial service at 7 p.m. on May 1 on the steps of the UGA Chapel.

UGA President Jere Morehead will lead the service, called “Georgia Remembers . . . a Candlelight Memorial.” Names of each of the 14 students and 10 faculty and staff members will be read aloud, followed by a toll of the Chapel bell and the lighting of a candle.

Students in the College whose names will be read, along with their hometowns and their areas of study, are:

  • Kayon Lindsay-Scott, doctoral student, educational administration and policy, LEAP
  • Amy Katherine Lee, undergraduate student, special education, CSSE
  • Natalie Staffieri, undergraduate student, early childhood, ETAP
  • Aaron Whitaker, undergraduate student, exercise and sport science, athletic training, KINS
