Summer construction advisory: Green Street pedestrian bridge
UGA’s Facilities Management Division (FMD) is pleased to announce a major summer construction project that will improve pedestrian access to east campus. Starting immediately following commencement, FMD will be replacing the pedestrian bridge that links east and south campus at the intersection of East Green Street and East Campus Road. Pedestrian access will be diverted to the Carlton Street interchange throughout the duration of the project. In addition to replacing the bridge, FMD will take the opportunity to upgrade the interchange’s pedestrian lighting and traffic signaling, in collaboration with Athens Clarke County’s Smart Grid System. Please see this webpage for more project information.
An informational project meeting will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, in the auditorium of the Georgia Museum of Art. UGA students, faculty, and staff are invited to join representatives from FMD, as well as Transportation and Parking Services for a brief presentation and to learn more about this project.
A similar email message will be sent to all parking pass holders who hold passes in the Performing Arts Center surface parking lot, as well as the PAC parking deck. We will also be posting signs alerting bridge users to the upcoming project and meeting on each side of the bridge.
