Call for nominations: Women's Leadership Fellows Program
The University of Georgia established the Women’s Leadership Fellows Program in 2015 to provide a select group of current faculty and administrators with dedicated time to develop and hone leadership skills and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities confronting research universities. The program will specifically focus on issues women face in academic administration.
This year’s program begins in fall 2019 and runs through May 2020. Fellows will attend monthly meetings where they will learn from senior administrators on campus, as well as visiting speakers from academia, business, and other fields. The program also features a concluding weekend retreat to be held Thursday-Friday, May 28-29, 2020, for more in-depth learning.
Participants will be UGA faculty holding an administrative position at the level of department head, academic program coordinator or director, assistant vice president, or above. A selection committee will review the submissions and make recommendations to the provost.
Nominations by deans and other senior administrators are welcome as are self-nominations.
Nominators should submit application materials to Katie Fite, program coordinator for academic programs, by Friday, Oct. 4. The application materials should include:
- A letter by the nominator or applicant not to exceed two pages presenting evidence of interest in academic leadership, experience in academic governance or administration to date, and what the nominee hopes to accomplish with the support of the program
- One to two additional letters of recommendation (each recommendation letter is limited to one page in length)
- A current CV or resume
The Women’s Leadership Fellows Program is administered by the Office of Academic Programs, a part of the Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost. More information on the program is available online.
