Career Center resources and announcements

There are a few ways College of Education faculty can encourage students in their career development this semester:

  • Career fairs: Encourage your students to attend the UGA Fall Career and Internship Fair from noon-5 p.m. on Sept. 24, in the Classic Center.  The UGA College of Education Career Fair 2020 is on March 19, 2020, time TBD. View more Career Center fairs and events.
  • Classroom presentations: If you plan on being away this semester for professional conferences or other reasons, consider allowing College of Education career consultant Toni Latham come speak with your students on a topic relevant to them (resumes, interviewing, career fair prep, etc.); this can take only 10 minutes of class or the full class time. Please email Latham for presentation requests within 2-4 weeks of your presentation request date.
  • UGA Mentor Program: Officially launched this August, the UGA Mentor Program is the first university-wide mentor program connecting current students (undergraduate, graduate, and professional) to more than 319,000 living UGA alumni and friends using a digital platform. This program creates relationships that will help students grow both personally and professionally. The hope is that some of these mentorships will last long beyond the specified timeline and will become a support system for the next generation of leaders as they progress along their career path. Encourage students to create their profile and select a mentor on the UGA Mentor website.
  • Handshake: Please let students know about UGA’s online job/internship board, Handshake. They have access to this online tool as a UGA student/alumni, which allows them to apply for jobs and internships, sign up for Career Center events, and connect with employers.
  • Refer students: Feel free to send students to Latham for any career-related questions. She can meet with students in three ways: 1) weekly drop-in hours from 2:30-4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays in Aderhold Hall (6th floor); 2) daily drop-in hours from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Friday in Clark Howell Hall (2nd floor); 3) individual appointments scheduled online through Handshake or call 706-542-3375.
