KerryAnn O’Meara, professor of higher education and associate dean at the University of Maryland, will share a lecture titled, “Undoing Disparities in Faculty Workloads,” from 11 a.m.-noon today in Aderhold Hall Room G23.
Many faculty and academic leaders experience the inequitable allocation and rewards of teaching, mentoring, and service work in the academic workplace. O’Meara, principal investigatory of the NSF-funded Faculty Workload and Rewards Project, will share the latest social science research on implicit biases as they relate to division of labor and evidence-based practices for mitigating workload inequities. Her work has garnered interest from universities nationwide and has led to numerous publications, including articles in PLoS ONE and the Journal of Higher Education.
