Caffeine is often the go-to for a quick energy boost in the morning. But a study by Patrick O’Connor, an exercise science professor in the Department of Kinesiology, shows that a few minutes of walking can help people feel more energized than drinking a cup of coffee.

“The best available evidence suggests that exercise induces changes in brain neurotransmitters, which play a role in boosting energy,” O’Connor told My FitnessPal. “Likely brain norepinephrine, dopamine, serotonin or histamine is involved.”
