October SRG4U: Highlights and information
Your College of Education Staff Representative Group (SRG) met Thursday, Oct. 17. To learn more about SRG and for contact information, please visit the SRG webpage. Here are a few takeaways from the most recent meeting.
Back to the ’80s: Chili Cook-off and Dessert Bake-off is Friday, Nov. 1 from noon-2 p.m. Rock your best ’80s outfit and vote for your favorite chili and/or dessert. Bragging rights for the year are up for grabs, so if you have a really rad recipe for chili or if you make a totally tubular dessert, be sure to register to compete.
SRG is more than a social club. While we have a great time when we get together, SRG strives to support not only the College of Education staff, but also the Athens community. Here are some planned outreach items for fall 2019:
- 2019 Hunger Bowl: Your SRG, Faculty Senate, and ambassadors will be working together to raise 1,000 pounds of food for the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia from Oct. 25-Nov. 8. Collection barrels will be placed in each building later this month, but you can start preparing now to bring in canned food and non-perishable items.
- Project Safe: Paper products (i.e. toilet paper and paper towels) will be collected at this year’s chili cook-off, held Nov. 1. Donations will be for Project Safe, and items can be dropped off during the cook-off or with Melanie Peiper in Aderhold Hall Room 630.
Have you seen the new webpage? Updates to the list of representatives, as well as the committees and their members are now listed. New RSVP buttons for our Lunch & Learn programs and the Chili Cook-Off have been added, and our most recent minutes are linked for your review. More updates are coming, so we encourage you to keep checking back.
As always, we look forward to sharing more with you as the year progresses. If you are interested in knowing more about SRG, talk to your department representative or speak with SRG chair Melanie Peiper.
