Ed Delgado-Romero, Ph.D., is a first generation son of Colombian immigrants. In this talk, he will discuss his journey at UGA, where he is one of few Latinx full-time professors focused on working with the Latinx community and extending the research, service, and teaching mission of UGA for the mutual benefit of students and the Latinx community.

At the event, Romero will talk about his 14 years spent at UGA, where he’s built an infrastructure for effective engagement with the Latinx community that includes research, creating Latinx focused courses, and mentoring the next generation of UGA undergraduates and graduates—most of whom are bilingual and bicultural—to work with the Latinx community as researchers, teachers, and therapists. Additionally, he will discuss the need for UGA to embrace the growing Latinx population in Georgia by training UGA students to work effectively with Latinx people and by increasing the number of Latinx, bilingual, and bicultural faculty, staff, and students.

This event is hosted by the University Union.
