Professor selected to participate in UGA’s 2019-2020 Women’s Leadership Fellows Program

Amy Reschly, professor and program coordinator in the Department of Educational Psychology, was selected to participate in UGA’s 2019-2020 Women’s Leadership Fellows Program.

This year-long program includes monthly meetings for Fellows to learn from senior administrators on campus, as well as visiting speakers in academia, business, and other fields. At each of the sessions, Fellows will have a chance to interact with one another and discuss approaches to problem solving in higher education administration.

Two faculty members to be inducted into UGA Teaching Academy

John Mativo, associate professor of career and information studies and David Jackson, associate professor of science education, will be inducted into the UGA Teaching Academy on Nov. 25.

The UGA Teaching Academy is a faculty-initiated and faculty-driven organization dedicated to promoting excellence in teaching and learning. It consists of faculty who are considered excellent or highly interested in teaching and engage in advocacy, service, or advising on teaching matters.

Three faculty members selected to participate in UGA’s Special Collections Libraries Faculty Fellows Program

Three faculty members were selected to participate in the 2019 cohort of UGA’s Special Collections Libraries Faculty Fellows Program.

Donna Alvermann, the Omer Clyde and Elizabeth Parr Aderhold Professor in Education and Distinguished Research Professor in the Department of Language and Literacy Education; Melissa Freeman, professor in the Department of Lifelong Education, Administration, and Policy; and Elizabeth Saylor, clinical assistant professor in the Department of Educational Theory and Practice will develop or redesign courses using the collections and resources of UGA’s three special collections libraries.

By using archives-based learning, the Fellows will help students understand and value the interconnected processes of research and analysis that draw upon many resources, approaches, and viewpoints to generate rigorous scholarship.
