Apply for the Active Learning Summer Institute by Jan. 31

As part of UGA’s efforts to promote excellence in teaching and learning, President Morehead has once again designated funds for the Active Learning Summer Institute (ALSI). The ALSI was developed based on recommendations made by the President’s Taskforce on Student Learning and Success in 2017. Faculty selected for the institute will receive $7,500.

Applications are due Friday, Jan. 31. Please view the full call for applications and the ALSI 2020 application form.

The goal of ALSI is to help current full-time faculty members (tenure and non-tenure track) to increase student engagement and success through the incorporation of active learning. Hosted by the Center for Teaching and Learning, ALSI is an intensive course (re)design experience for full-time faculty across campus.

This year’s institute will run May 18-June 4 with a single cohort of 24 faculty. During these three weeks, faculty will engage in face-to-face sessions focused on successful integration of active learning strategies into specific courses. Following the institute, participants will continue to receive support from the CTL through one-on-one consultations and a mid-semester formative evaluation.
