Reconceptualizing Teacher Education Town Hall

On Nov. 15, 70 faculty members worked together to begin a discussion of how we might reconceptualize teacher education. The data shared is available here. Attendees worked in groups to discuss six questions using a shared document to record ideas. Those ideas have been consolidated into major categories.

The consolidated document is available and contains links to the original document and an intermediate document where comments were condensed by question.

You are welcome to add ideas or comments to the document, as this document will guide our future work.

During spring semester, we will organize groups to develop action plans around the major topics from the document:

  • Induction
  • Experiential learning
  • Curriculum enhancement/revision (foundations, special populations, DEI)
  • Student recruitment

If you are interested in joining one of these groups, please indicate your interest on the document. We envision each group meeting once a month for 90 minutes during the spring semester. Faculty and staff are welcome to express interest in these groups, and we will engage P-12 partners during the process as well.
