Call for proposals: 2020 Men of Color Leadership Summit

Multicultural Services and Programs invites session proposals from students, faculty, staff, and community members for the inaugural Men of Color Leadership Summit at the University of Georgia, to be held on Saturday, March 21.

The Men of Color Leadership Summit seeks to promote achievement among men of color through innovative and scholarly research that cultivates connections, builds community, and provides advocacy for student experiences. This year’s theme is “Mind, Body & Soul.”

Deadline

  • The completed proposal must be submitted no later than 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31. Those who submit a proposal will be notified in mid-February of the committee’s decision.

Session proposals should include the following:

  • Title of your session
  • 250-word description of your session with background information that provides a rationale for your session

Your session format should be one of the following:

  • Workshop: A training session in which the speaker leads participants through exercises or skill development in a given field
  • Presentation: A session in which the facilitator uses a visual aid to guide the session. These visual aids can be an electronic presentation (such as PowerPoint), a poster, an exhibit, etc.
  • Symposium: A presentation and discussion by 3-4 experts on a particular topic. Discussants should integrate relevant, engaging conversation around the topic.

Finalists

Accepted proposals will be chosen by a committee selected by the Multicultural Services and Programs. All those who submit a proposal will be notified of the decision via email.
