Faculty Learning Community: Inclusive pedagogies
- Date: Every Thursday through May 7
- Time: 8:30-10 a.m.
- Location: River’s Crossing Room 156
- Facilitator: Rob Branch
You are invited to the spring 2020 Faculty Learning Community on “Using Technology to Reduce the Distance in Distance Learning” led by Rob Branch, professor of learning, design, and technology.
The purpose is to collectively engage in meaningful discussions about teaching and learning strategies that facilitate active, inspirational, and situated approaches to course design. Two outcomes will be:
- Generate a publishable (digital) document that will serve as a guide for higher education faculty who offer courses with a distance learning component
- Submit a proposal to present at next year’s Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Conference
This is an interdisciplinary Faculty Learning Community, and therefore, each participant will have the opportunity to lead a session or share innovative digital technologies that promote inclusive pedagogies. Source material will be provided, and a University System of Georgia certificate will be awarded to each participant who attends a minimum of four FLC sessions.
While attending each week may not be feasible for you, you are encouraged to attend as many sessions during the semester as your schedule permits. Our meetings are very informal and a continental breakfast is provided. There is also a video conference link for anyone who chooses to participate at a distance.
Please email Rob Branch if you plan to attend this week’s meeting or next week’s meeting. We will figure out a communication strategy beginning with next month’s meetings.
