SRG4U: New leadership and upcoming event

The Staff Representative Group (SRG) is starting the new year off with new leadership! We bid a reluctant farewell to two of our members: Melanie Peiper and Logan Herren Dos Santos. Both were active members of the SRG.

Logan served as the staff representative for the Department of Kinesiology and Melanie was the long-serving chair. We wish both the best on their new endeavors. Cheers and thanks to both for all their contributions to the College and SRG!

Thank you to Jason Tiller who is stepping into the role of SRG chair and Dana Barnhart, who not only has returned to the College of Education and will represent the Department of Kinesiology, but has also agreed to take on Jason’s former role of SRG vice-chair.

“Movement is essential, exercise is optional.” That’s the motto of our February SRG guest, Athens Movement Practice, who will be joining us at the next meeting to talk about reframing the idea of health and fitness as well as sharing some ideas that can be implemented immediately to help reduce tension.

  • Date: Wednesday, Feb. 12
  • Time: 10-11 a.m.
  • Location: Aderhold Hall

Are you looking to improve, add-to, or expand your business skills? College of Education staff can apply for professional development funds to offset expenses incurred for professional development. The College has allocated these funds to provide support for staff to attend various staff professional development opportunities such as the Annual Administrative Professionals Day Conference (coming up in April), courses through UGA Training and Development, or those offered through the Georgia Center for Continuing Education. Requesting funds is simple and the process is painless. Visit the staff professional development funding webpage for more information.

Hold tight to your New Year’s Resolution and save the date to join us on February 12. RSVP now to secure your spot.

As always we look forward to sharing more with you as the year progresses. If you are interested in knowing more about SRG, talk to your department representative or email SRG chair Jason Tiller.
