UGA College of Education ranked 5th in country for online degrees

The University of Georgia College of Education continues to rank among the nation’s top online graduate degree programs, according to U.S. News & World Report, which placed the College at No. 5 in its 2020 list of Best Online Master’s Education Programs.

Maintaining the same overall rank from last year, the College of Education also received top marks for a number of online specialty degrees, including educational/instructional media design (No. 6); curriculum and instruction (No. 7); and educational administration and supervision (No. 11).

Most notably, the College’s online bachelor’s degree program in special education rose to No. 10 from the No. 25 spot last year. The B.S.Ed. in special education—UGA’s only online, undergraduate degree—was designed to alleviate the state-wide critical shortage of special education teachers by providing an opportunity for full-time paraprofessionals in the field to earn their degrees.

The College also ranked No. 1 for best online master’s education programs for veterans.

“The College’s online degree programs offer professionals the opportunity to acquire new knowledge to enhance their expertise while working full time,” said Denise A. Spangler, dean of the College of Education. “Our faculty are pleased to offer a wide array of online learning options to meet the needs of professionals in Georgia and beyond.”
