UGA scheduled network maintenance

On Saturday, March 7 from 6 a.m.-midnight, Enterprise Information Technology Services (EITS) will be conducting maintenance on the University of Georgia network. These maintenances are necessary to support an expansion and upgrade of the network that will allow EITS to continue providing ample bandwidth and capacity for the University.

As a result, there will be intermittent outages of campus internet access and campus information systems on both of these days. Because these outages will be unpredictable, the community should assume that network services will be unavailable on both days.

  • Systems that use services in the UGA Boyd Data Center will experience outages. This also includes UGA websites hosted in the Boyd Data Center. The University’s primary website is hosted off-campus and will remain available.
  • UGA’s Central Authentication System (CAS) and UGA’s Single Sign-On (UGA SSO) will also experience outages. This will mean individuals will not be able to login to many UGA-provided information systems including: Athena, Banner Administrative System, Degree Works, eLearning Commons (eLC), UGA Financial Management System, UGA Budget Management System, UGAJobs, UGAmart, OneUSG Connect, and OneUSG Connect Benefits.
  • Individuals off campus during the maintenance window will experience outages accessing UGAMail, websites hosted by UGA, the Virtual Private Network (VPN), ArchPass Duo, and information systems hosted by EITS.
  • All systems behind the Central Departmental firewalls will experience outages to their access to the UGA network.

After maintenance is completed, application owners are advised to test their applications. Please report any issues to the EITS Help Desk at 706-542-3106.

Additional details and progress reports will be posted on the UGA systems status website and on the EITS Twitter feed.
