Amazing student Phaidra Buchanan featured on UGA's homepage

Phaidra Buchanan hopes to teach high school social studies after graduation and plans to pursue an advanced degree to study education law or policy with a focus on teacher retention, school segregation, and tracking within schools. Buchanan, who is majoring in social studies education and minoring in German, is a Foundation Fellow and has taken advantage of UGA’s study abroad programs and research opportunities.

“What made me want to be a teacher was recognizing that our internal worlds are just as vast as any social studies curriculum and that half of the joy of teaching is learning what your students bring to the classroom on day one,” she said.
