We are excited to announce our next GSOCRM Pop-Up Workshop on Friday, Feb. 21 with social justice scholar and spoken word poet Jamila Lyiscott! Lyiscott is a social justice scholar, nationally renowned speaker, spoken word artist, and educational consultant at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Lyiscott is also a Senior Research Fellow of Teachers College, Columbia University’s Institute of Urban and Minority Education.

During this breakfast with Lyiscott, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the benefits and journey of engaging in critical, performative, and creative forums to incite and center activism in education, justice-based and driven scholarship, and critical communal engagement. In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to engage in dialogue with Lyiscott about her journey in conducting “vision-driven justice” in her professional spaces and scholarship, while simultaneously reflecting on the way social justice scholarship and professional development can be carried throughout your tenure as a graduate student and as a professional.

If you are interested in attending breakfast with Jamila Lyiscott, please RSVP by email.
