Sarah E. Sumners, interim director and associate research scientist in the Torrance Center for Creativity and Talent Development, received the 2020 E. Paul Torrance Creativity Award from the Georgia Association for Gifted Children.

Each year, the award is presented to an individual who has advanced the lifelong work of E. Paul Torrance through scholarly research on creativity, individual creative productivity, and for helping develop creative potential in others.

“Receiving this award emphasizes the continued relevance of creativity to the holistic development of gifted learners across the state of Georgia,” Sumners said. “This award underlines the importance of developing creative potential in all learners. It is not only a recognition of my dedication and contribution to the field, but to all educators across the state working hard each and every day to further the legacy of E. Paul Torrance.”
