Tips and resources for transitioning to online instruction
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is committed to helping our faculty transition their face-to-face courses to an online format. We are working closely with the UGA Center for Teaching and Learning to provide information that is consistent across UGA. We recognize that our faculty community is diverse in their comfort levels using online teaching and learning technologies, and we approach this effort with sensitivity in mind.
Over the coming weeks, we will use COEfyi to share updates, online teaching tips, and video and written tutorials for using online tools. As a starting point, here are a few resources to help with the online transition:
- Please view the Guiding Principles for Teaching During Significant Disruptions document as you consider ways to transition your course. Keep in mind that this is a big picture guide for necessary considerations in making a rapid transition to online teaching.
- The resources on the Office of Instruction’s website are designed to help make step-by-step decisions to convert your course to online. It includes a set of initial decisions for making the transition as smooth as possible for instructors and students. Additionally, it links to several useful tutorials for using the most basic set of online tools.
- OIT is in the process of creating how-to videos for YouTube on various topics including how to narrate a PowerPoint. You can access these videos through the Mary Frances College of Education’s YouTube playlist Tips for Online Teaching.
We appreciate your patience and dedication to making this rapid transition as smooth as possible. Stay tuned for more updates in COEfyi and don’t hesitate to reach out to OIT and EITS for help! We are all in this together.
